Sony Music Entertainment is a global record music company. It’s one of the big three global record companies, representing many of the world’s greatest artists past and present.
Sony provides a highly creative environment for its employees, and in its ongoing mission to hire and retain the very best talent, it underwent an overhaul of its employee benefits and rewards solution in 2014. As a linked project, Sony needed to implement a new leave management solution. It wanted employee self-service capability with a seamless employee journey from within its online employee benefits portal.
Sony had previously used its HR system for leave tracking but the system was frustratingly clunky, it lacked the required flexibility, and employees regularly complained about using it. In addition, HR had been responsible for logging all employee sick leave which was proving time-consuming and impractical. The final part of the brief was that Sony wanted a solution that would require minimal on-going system support.
e-days was rolled out to Sony employees within 5 weeks. The rollout included Single-Sign-On authentication from Sony’s online benefits solution, allowing employees to access e-days straight away with no need for additional username or passwords.
Holiday entitlements for each employee were accurately displayed on employee’s e-days dashboard, and employees were able to make annual leave bookings from day-one. Additional absence types were also available for Sony employees determined by their access and permissions within e-days. Sickness management tools were made available to managers allowing them to log, track and proactivity manage sickness absence, whilst giving manager’s a greater insight into employee health and wellbeing.
HR were also granted sickness management rights and was given access to all areas across e-days for their purposes. All teams and departments were configured to allow the correct absence calendar visibilities across teams and reporting lines, providing employees with greater insight into the whereabouts of their colleagues for project purposes.
Internal stakeholders at Sony received superb user feedback and Sony reported 100% employee adoption of the new system. Within 6months, Sony had recommended the use of e-days to Sony Pictures Entertainment who also became an e-days customer undergoing a rapid global rollout shortly after.
HR and Payroll teams immediately benefitted from statutory reporting by location, with a new confidence level as to the accuracy of the absence data.
Internal Willis Towers Watson teams are able to use the e-days reporting tools to feed important employee data into their core data analytics platform to achieve intelligent, multi-faceted employee data analysis
