3 Innovative Ways to Use Our Group Calendar

You would have thought that we know everything about our system and that nothing surprises us when it comes to how businesses are using it, well you would be wrong.

Many of our customers have been pushing the limits of the group calendar functionality and have found it to be extremely flexible, having far more uses than first thought. We have searched high and low for some of the most innovative ways that our customers are using the group calendar function.

Here are the top 3 most innovative ways that we have seen the group calendar function being used. We hope these inspire you to not only push the boundaries with the group calendar function, but our whole system.

    Monitor your hot desk availability

The world of work is constantly evolving, with different types of flexible working available for employees. Job sharing, flexi-time arrangements, compressed hours, and working from home are just a few of the many ways businesses are offering flexible working patterns. This has lead to many organisations introducing hot desks into their offices. But the problem is that for many organisations, they simply don’t have enough of them!F

To counteract this, some of our customers have created calendars for their hot desks to show when they are available. That’s right, calendars in Edays don’t need to apply to just employees. This then lets employees book them for when they are next in the office – saying goodbye to hot desk disputes forever!

    Staff training/events

If you offer any company-wide training/events, a few of our customers have come up with a super-easy way to share these with their employees. You can pop all of your corporate events into all your employee’s calendars automatically and notify them of when it is happening, convenience at it’s finest right! So next time you host a lovely summer BBQ or Christmas party, be sure to utilize this simple way to ensure none of your employees miss out on all the fun.

    Monitor your car park availability

Our final ingenious way of using the group calendar comes from us, and we are sure a lot of organisations out there can relate. Over the past few years, we have rapidly grown, having almost doubled our headcount in just the past year, which has meant there is stiff competition for spaces in the car park at our lovely office. Our solution to this was to create individual calendars for our car park spaces. This easily allows our employees to see which spaces are available and book them when needed. Of course, before you ask, all the spots are allocated fairly too.

All of these are really cool and innovative uses of our group calendar functionality, some of which you can hopefully apply to your own business.
